Julia Wolfe’s Birthday

Three great Americans were been born in February, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and Julia Wolfe. On February 16th we are celebrating Julia Wolfe’s birthday and one of the most interesting mother-son relationships in American literary history. Tours throughout the day will tell her story as learned in fact and fiction.

We are also getting an early start helping North Carolina’s Department of Natural and Cultural Resources kick off a campaign titled “She Changed the World: NC Women Breaking Barriers.” Special events through November 2020 will focuses on North Carolina women past and present who have achieved amazing things in multiple disciplines to help make the world a better place.

The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage. Ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American women the right to vote.
